Why Kasumi?
Kasumi is very much a stereotypical wife/homemaker figure, although
she is not married nor has expressed any real interest in anyone.
(Dr. Tofu notwithstanding, but Kasumi does not seem to return his
sentiments or even truly be aware of them.) This aspect of her
appearance can be partially attributed to her taking on the role of
her late mother. As could be expected, this role makes her appear
outwardly to be rather submissive, but if it were not for her the
Tendo household would crumble under its own weight. She isn't
necessarily a shy person, but her inherent niceness does give this
impression. I like Kasumi primarily because she reminds me very
strongly of Belldandy from Oh My Goddess - in fact, they not only both have long
brown hair, similar personalities, and similar choice of fashion, but
they also share the same voice actress. Unlike Belldandy, though,
Kasumi generally gets ignored because of the many other characters in
Ranma ½ that overshadow her, especially considering that she does not take part in any of the action.
